Led by CAPTAIN’s TPI chart-topping performance and two other sires in the top 10 on the Top 100 International TPI® Bulls List, STgenetics® sires had another strong sire summary day this August 2023.
CAPTAIN was the #1 Proven Sire on the Top 100 International TPI® Bulls List for the third consecutive proof run at +3184 TPI. His Udder Composite also saw an improvement to +1.91 UDC, while his Type remained solid at +1.29 PTAT. CAPTAIN is +2097 Milk, +138 Fat, +73 Protein and +1224 NM$. He is also the #3 MACE-LPI sire in Canada at +3704 MLPI and is +3373 PRO$. CAPTAIN is leaving his mark around the world, where his daughters are impressing in Italy, the UK, Canada, Brazil, France and Spain. CAPTAIN also is an impressive +118 for EcoFeed®cow for Feed Conversion Efficiency.
STgenetics® released 36 news sires following this proof run. The top GTPI sire among them is RAD at +3220 GTPI, a Fugleman son that is also EcoFeed®plus for Feed Conversion Efficiency in cows and heifers. Eight of these new sires are over +3100 GTPI and 16 of them are +1100 NM$. On the Type side, CHOICE leads the way at +4.19 GPTAT and is joined by seven other sires over +2.30 GPTAT. Two new sires are Red Carriers, including AMBITION*RC, an exciting Canadian-bred Type sire at +2.41 GPTAT with economic and production traits. He is +3690 GPA-LPI, +3013 PRO$, +928 kg Milk and BB. He also excels in Type being +12 Conformation and +11 Feet & Legs. Another of the new releases is Polled, while five are Platinum Legend™ and five are Gold Legend™ sires. This new release group also includes 24 sires that are A2A2.
With the maturity of STgenetics® Holstein genetics lineup, we now have 363 bulls available in unrestricted access in Ultraplus™, with CHARL, the former breed leader and sire of CAPTAIN, now being on that list. Delta-LAMBDA retained his #2 spot on the Canadian LPI list at +3717, while maintaining his +14 for Conformation (Type) and being +3075 for PRO$. Delta-LAMBDA leads the breed, being the sire with the most granddaughters in the top +1000 GLPI list. In the U.S., Delta-LAMBDA is +2.68 PTAT and +2.81 UDC. Despite Delta-LAMBDA's recent passing, we will continue to see his strong influence through the dairy industry with his presence in the pedigree of sires such as BREAKSHOT, BREAKTHRU-P, PATAN, PARIZE, PAULY and newly released AMBITION*RC and JERRY LEWIS from STgenetics®.
RAPID held steady at the #5 spot on the Top 100 TPI® list at +3029 TPI. He is a Balanced Breeding Sire with a Type and Udder Composite of +2.36 PTAT & +2.05 UDC. RAPID also excelled on the Canadian LPI list, where he improved to +3197 LPI, +1189 kg of Milk, +88 kg of Fat and +61 kg of Protein in his Canadian proof. RAPID carries the A2A2 gene and is EcoFeed®heifer for Feed Conversion Efficiency in the growing stage in heifers.
A newcomer to the top 10 on the TPI® list is HOLDON who comes in at #6. At +3021, HOLDON is a CHARL son from the heart of the famous Delicious cow family, where his second dam, Nightout, is a former top GTPI female of the breed. HOLDON is +98 lbs Fat and +67 lbs Protein and excels in health traits being +5.7 Productive Life, 2.65 SCS and +0.6 DPR. He also has a nice udder composite being +1.23 UDC, +2.27 RUH and +1.80 RUW.
TAMPA was #18 on the August TPI® list at +2955 TPI. TAMPA is the top Productive Life sire on the Top 100 International TPI® Bulls List at +7.4 PL. Being a HIGH NOON son also from the Delicious family, TAMPA is a great combination of health and production traits at +2029 lbs of Milk, +1044 NM$, +1049 CM$, +69 lbs of Protein, +1.6 DPR and +3.5 Livability. This EcoFeed®cow sire is Feed Conversion Efficiency during the lactating stage of cows and is A2A2.
In the Red and White breed, STgenetics® ALTITUDE-RED is the #2 Proven Type Red sire at +2.98 PTAT following the August 2023 Sire Summary. Being an exceptional udder sire at +2.61 UDC, ALTITUDE-RED is siring show winners and high scoring daughters around the world. Right behind ALTITUDE-RED, JORDY-RED ranked the #3 Proven Type sire at +2.98 PTAT and +2.26 UDC. Red Carriers ARCHITECT*RC and AIRCRAFT*RC, two sires from the famous Apple EX-96 3E, continued their success as Type leaders.
